Our Mission
Lincoln's mission is to provide excellent academic instruction targeted to the needs of each individual student learner within an emotionally safe and nurturing learning environment. Our teachers are dedicated to incorporate learning throughout the curriculum. By working closely with student families we encourage literacy "both day and night."
Lincoln prizes its ethnic and cultural diversity. Nineteen languages are spoken here. Consequently, our literacy program is geared for English
Langauge Learners, as well as for all other students who are excited to improve their reading skills. The California Early Literacy Learning and the Extended Literacy Learning programs are used at Lincoln to promote maximum literacy growth for each grade. This research based literacy model has proved very effective for Lincoln students.
Lincoln's 2009-10 School Improvement Goals:
- Achieve a 10% increase in students scoring "proficient" in Language Arts CRT scores.
- Achieve a 10% increase in students scoring "proficient" in math CRT scores.
- Lincoln students will enjoy an emotionally and physically safe community-oriented environment.
- Establish active parent relationships to promote literacy instruction at home.
- Achieve a maximum learning effect for all students, and for ESL students in particular.

- Our math program is centered around Houghton Mifflin Expressions.
- Computer literacy is stressed in our computer lab, six eMINTS classrooms, and SpyHop classrooms.
- Resident artist through Beverly Taylor Sorenson funding for art instruction.

Lincoln Highlights
Lincoln's Community Learning Center includes extended day/year programs designed with site flexibility to adapt to unique student and community needs. Salt Lake Community Education coordinates the program and works cooperatively and collaboratively with school principal and staff, parents, public agencies, private organizations and community based organizations.

Lincoln's on site mental health services are provided in partnership with Valley Mental Health.
An on site medical clinic is provided in partnership with IHC.
A full time Dean of Students supports our student behavioral program and provides consistent supervision of students and immediate contact with families when behavioral issues occur.
